Please bring finger food and whatever games you may want to play. We will also plan to worship and pray at some point during the evening.
Church in Ministry lists
The end of the year is approaching FAST, and I will begin working on the first quarter church in ministry lists. These lists include greeters, nursery, scripture reading and candlelighters (Kindergarteners thru 5th graders). All these parts are a vital part of keeping our church moving. If you did not see the sign-up list and you would like to volunteer, please send an email. If there is a list you would not like to be included on, please let me know.
The Community Food Basket is a ministry serving anyone needing food assistance in northern Riley County (everything west of Manhattan city limits). Begun over 20 years ago, it continues to be run by a coalition of 10 area churches and has a goal of providing 3 meals per day/3 days a week. Food is distributed based on family size. Holiday food baskets are provided at Thanksgiving, Christmas, and Easter (note the food need list). It also offers the annual Adopt-A-Family program. A family can sign up to receive gifts at Christmas and is matched with an anonymous donor group who provides gifts for the children in the family.
Food Needs for the Community Food Basket: whole kernel corn, green beans, fruit cocktail, chili beans, baked beans, boxed mashed potatoes, stuffing, noodles, cream of mushroom soup, cream of chicken soup, macaroni-n-cheese, brownie mix, pie filling, cranberry sauce, canned yams, hamburger helper, holiday crackers, mixed nuts, and individual packets of cocoa.
Donations can be left in the green tub under the coat rack. You can also drop off donations at the Community Food Basket (located off the alley behind the Riley City Library) on Saturday mornings between 10-12, or at the Riley City Office and The Store in Leonardville during operating hours.
