We will begin practice for the children’s Christmas program today, which happens during the worship service. The kids will be dismissed after we are done singing, so if you would like your child to be part of this program Sunday morning December 13th, you can dismiss them then. We could also use a couple of extra adults to simply be a presence with the kids in practice, or to help with costumes and other behind the scenes activities, so head downstairs with them if are willing to help out.

This is our last week to finish shoeboxes.  If you want to pack any, let Rose know.  We could use washcloths, crayons, or soap still or monetary donations to purchase those items.  We are thrilled with the number of boxes we have packed.  Please pray for the children who will receive them. The week of the 16th-23rd is collection week and we are a collection site.  If you would be willing to sit at the church for a few hours, please let Rose know.

GENERAL ANNOUNCEMENTS

NEW ADULT SUNDAY SCHOOL CLASS:

Grace in Relationships: Being a Safe and Sound Church

We are called to be a safe and sound church for each other and for our community, and the gospel of Jesus Christ frees us to actively love everyone God puts in your path – because those people *are* your path. Starting this week, Pastor Stephanie will lead us in a frank discussion after the worship service of the importance of loving in COMMUNITY, loving and forgiving those who are difficult to love, extending grace in our relationships, loving honestly, and learning the role of the Holy Spirit in growing the body of Christ.

THANK YOU

Veryl Rundquist would like to thank everyone for the cards, calls, etc. he received for his birthday!

Congratulations & Diaper Shower

Seth and Traci Johnson were blessed with Canaan Wallace on October 9th weighing 5lbs 15oz and 19.5in long!  With the arrival of Canaan, let us bless the Johnson family with diapers! It is an Alert tradition to shower every new arrival with plenty of diapers, big and small.   If you feel led to bless the Johnson family, you can leave your gift by the mailboxes with their name, for them to pick up at their convenience.

Christmas Program

If anyone feels led to help or lead the children’s Christmas program this year, please let Pastor Stephanie know.

Voter Guides

There are voter guides for Riley, Pottawatomie, and Clay Counties on the Welcome Center Kiosk.

Shoeboxes

Shoebox packing is in full swing! Please let Rose know you would like to help and when you are available. She will be here most days for the next two weeks. November 16th is the deadline to have them completed. Our goal is 600 boxes. Some things you can do to help are: pray for the recipients who receive these boxes to receive Christ, have your children write letters and draw pictures, donate money to help with OCC, pack a box with your family or at church.

GENERAL ANNOUNCEMENTS

NEW BIBLE STUDIES:

Distorted Views of God: New Evening Bible Study

We all bring our own lens with which we view the world. Likewise, we come with assumptions about who God is. Based on experience, misunderstanding of Scripture, or otherwise, understanding the character of God is essential to understanding the gospel properly. Beginning October 28th (time TBD) join us as we study the distorted ways, we tend to view God and look to Scripture for the truth.

Power – A Study of Romans learning about the Power of God, the Holy Spirit & Jesus, and how we walk in the Spirit

Wednesdays beginning October 28 meeting at Laura’s, 12720 Whippoorwill Lane, Randolph (some may want to meet at church and carpool) 6:30-8:15 p.m. We will be meeting in my library and dining room. If you need to wear a mask and have more social distance come in the front door and take a spot in the library. If you are more comfortable without just come in the garage and take a seat at the dining table. We can all still visit and talk! Bring your own drinks. Please read Romans before our first meeting.

Shoeboxes

Shoebox packing is in full swing.  Rose will be around the church all day Monday and Friday, and Wednesday and Thursday afternoon if you would like to join her and assist in shoebox prep, packing, etc.  Please let Rose know you would like to help and when you are available. Also, we need letters and pictures for the shoeboxes.  If you would ask your children to each draw a picture or write one or two letters, just telling the shoebox recipient that we love them and a little bit about themselves, that would be great!  There are also forms in the foyer that your child can take and fill in the blanks.
