Call to Fasting and Prayer

As we look ahead to 2020, our leadership has set a goal of nurturing a culture of prayer at Alert. We want to encourage our congregation to join us in committing to pray and fast for a day from time to time in 2020. We would like to fill the calendar with volunteers who are willing to participate.  A sign-up sheet with the first three months will be available at the Welcome Center for volunteers to sign up for a day to fast and pray.

Financial Peace University

We are considering offering Financial Peace University beginning March 1st depending upon how much interest there is. The course is nine weeks long and we would hold the course on Sunday evenings at 5:00 p.m. with a meal provided. Each session would be about one and a half hours. Dave Ramsey is the presenter via video and each session concludes with discussion over the contents. If you are interested in participating, please tell Pastor Dwight.

New Prayer Cards
There are new prayer cards available for Stephan and Robin Gibson and the Coughlin family located on the Welcome Center.

T-Shirts

If you are interested in ordering a t-shirt like the t-shirts designed for the Mexico Mission team, please visit with Rose Linhardt. This is a fundraiser for the mission trip coming up in the summer of 2020.

Cancellations

This winter our intentions are to have Sunday services unless there is a blizzard or severe ice storm. In case of a cancellation, our deacons/deaconess will call you and let you know, or you can check the church Facebook page.

GENERAL ANNOUNCEMENTS

“The Parables: Understanding what Jesus Meant”

Why are we so drawn to stories? And why did Jesus use them so often?

Some sections of the Bible give us grand theology. Some move us to grateful responses to God. But the parables break through mere words and make us ask whether there has indeed been any real difference in our lives.

Today we’ll start a new adult class on the stories Jesus used to teach. Join us in the old sanctuary!
