OCC Shoeboxes/Victory Village

Let Rose or Randi know if you want a girl to bless at Victory Village for Christmas and pray for and encourage through the rest of the school year.  For shoeboxes this year, we will pack the younger kids November 10th.   We will have a meal first and then pack.  It is so much fun so please think about joining us!  We can still use: 100 bars of Ivory soap, aluminum foil (sheets or regular), needles to air up balls, wide tooth combs, old towels, soccer balls.

Church Membership

If you are interested in joining our church, instructions and applications can be picked up in the church office. They are located on the half-wall.

Bibles

Study Bibles are available for those who do not have a Bible of their own. You may pick one up at the Welcome Center. The Bibles are provided as a gift to you.

Save the Date

Sunday, November 17th we are bringing back an old tradition: Offerfest! Join us that Sunday evening as we celebrate all that God is doing in our church and in the world. We will welcome inmates from the Ellsworth Correctional Facility, who will provide powerful testimony of God’s work in their hearts. We will have a potluck meal beforehand.

On Saturday, October 19th – the Food Pantry located in Riley was very busy.  There were 20 families with a total of 66 people who picked up food that day which is one of the largest Saturdays in which food needs were

met.  If you would like to donate food items – here are some suggestions:

– Saltine Crackers                                                                                      – Brownie mix – Chicken Noodle Soup                                                         – Cream of Chicken Soup                 – Peanut Butter (both crunchy and smooth)                                       – Rice-a-Roni                                                                                    – Hamburger Helper                                                           – Canned Pasta with meat                                                                      – Egg Noodles                                                          – Instant mashed potatoes                                      – any non-perishable items

For your donation convenience, there are 2 locations to leave your donation.  Lime green tote by the coat rack in the main sanctuary area OR a basket is located by the south entrance to the Fellowship Hall.

Covenant Women!

Our last Coffee and Conversation for 2019 is upon us. Join us this Saturday morning, November 2nd for a light breakfast and coffee as we explore our tendency to perfection. With negative and positive effects, we’ll explore perfectionism in our lives and have an honest conversation about our struggles. If anyone is interested in helping plan the event, please let Pastor Stephanie know.

Covenant Cedars Fall Retreat

Miss all your camp friends? Well, it’s time to go back to camp for High school fall retreat on November 15-17th. The early bird deadline is October 30th! If you miss camp you should sign up for fall retreat! Additionally, if there are any adult volunteers that would like to chaperone come talk to Pastor Zach!

Also, 15-20 more shoeboxes need wrapped.  If you prefer to make a monetary donation, please give it to Rose or April or designate it in the offering plate.

A variety of items (dishes) plus two ice chests have been placed on the table located in the old sanctuary.  Some items are from the July ice cream social event.  Please take time to check out the table of goodies and pick up yours.  After October 31, these items will be donated to either the church or the Salvation Army.  If you wish to donate your item to the church, please contact Karen Rundquist (karen.rundquist@gmail.com) so that she is aware of your intentions.  Thank you!

If you would like to provide housing for Cezary Komisarz during his stay Oct. 26th through the morning of Oct. 28th, please let Pastor Dwight know. Also, if you would like to have Pastor Cezary over for the Sunday noon or Sunday evening meal on the 27th or take him out to eat, please let Pastor Dwight know.

New Sunday School Class

Today, we are beginning a new adult Sunday School class with special guest Patty Thompson, the Director of Prayer and Leadership Mobilization with the Midwest Covenant Conference. She will walk us through “listening prayer” as a launch to our new class on Praying the Psalms with Pastor Stephanie. Please join us in the old sanctuary at 11am.

Special Offering

Covenant World Relief is working in partnership with Medical Teams International to serve the Syrian refugees. If you are led to give toward this ministry, please place your offering in the envelope provided. The teens who attended CHIC in 2018 chose this as a way to meet the needs of the refugee crisis.

Financial Wellness

Dan’s topic is called Financial Wellness and he will talk about how we each have different experiences that have shaped how we relate to money, and how being financially well impacts other areas of our lives.  We will also cover estate planning basics, investing basics, different ways to make gifts to ministries, and how Covenant Trust can help in those areas.

Covenant Women!

Clay Center Covenant Church is having a Women’s Night of Worship tomorrow night at 7pm. Pastor Stephanie is preaching and helping lead worship, so please come, rest, and enjoy the Lord with a time in the word, singing, and prayer.

Life Chain Sunday
