 Church in Ministry lists

I have completed the 1st Quarter lists and they are in your mailboxes as well as attached to the weekly email.  However, you can still sign up for the following quarters.  These lists include greeters, nursery, scripture reading and candlelighters (Kindergarteners thru 5th graders). All these parts are a vital part of keeping our church moving. If you did not see the sign-up list and you would like to volunteer, please send an email.  If there is a list you would not like to be included on, please let me know.

The Community Food Basket

Many, many thanks for your donations of food as well as your monetary donations to the Food Pantry which serves Northern Riley County located in Riley.

There were 35 households receiving Thanksgiving baskets (which served 114 individuals).  Christmas baskets were given to 39 households (serving over 100 individuals).

Many individuals have partnered with us in making it possible for us to provide Thanksgiving and Christmas food baskets this season.  Your donations of food and money are always appreciated throughout the year as we serve those in northern Riley County.  THANK YOU!!!

Church in Ministry lists

The end of the year is approaching FAST, and I will begin working on the first quarter church in ministry lists.

The Community Food Basket is a ministry serving anyone needing food assistance in northern Riley County (everything west of Manhattan city limits).  Begun over 20 years ago, it continues to be run by a coalition of 10 area churches and has a goal of providing 3 meals per day/3 days a week.  Food is distributed based on family size.  Holiday food baskets are provided at Thanksgiving, Christmas, and Easter (note the food need list). It also offers the annual Adopt-A-Family program.  A family can sign up to receive gifts at Christmas and is matched with an anonymous donor group who provides gifts for the children in the family.

Food Needs for the Community Food Basket: whole kernel corn, green beans, fruit cocktail, chili beans, baked beans, boxed mashed potatoes, stuffing, noodles, cream of mushroom soup, cream of chicken soup, macaroni-n-cheese, brownie mix, pie filling, cranberry sauce, canned yams, hamburger helper, holiday crackers, mixed nuts, and individual packets of cocoa.

Donations can be left in the green tub under the coat rack.  You can also drop off donations at the Community Food Basket (located off the alley behind the Riley City Library) on Saturday mornings between 10-12, or at the Riley City Office and The Store in Leonardville during operating hours.

Christmas Caroling & Cookies

Please join us for a night of caroling on Saturday, December 7th at 4:00 p.m. While we carol, we deliver cookie plates, but we need your cookies. If everyone could bring 2 dozen cookies for the cookie plates to church before 3:30 p.m. Saturday afternoon, we will plate everything before breaking into groups to go carol in the different communities. We will meet back at the church following caroling for pizza and fellowship. Christmas Program Practice will follow the Pizza and fellowship.

Church Family Christmas Celebration: Come join us December 8th during morning worship for a church Christmas celebration.  We will be featuring the children, but this will be a family gathering with something for everyone!  After the service, there will be a time of food and fellowship.  Soup will be provided; we would ask that you bring sides or dessert to go with it. Mark your calendar now and be a part of this special service!
