The Flourishing Life

Flourish: to thrive, to be full, vibrant, faithful….this month over 100 Cru students and staff members from all over Kansas joined together at our Fall Getaway. We explored how to flourish, in college and in the workplace, and we learned that the measure of human flourishing is Jesus’ life!

We were all challenged to give up lifestyles of autonomy, individualism, pleasure seeking, isolation, and an “us vs. them” mentality; all of which lead to languishing.  Instead, we Christians were called to live a life of following/obeying Christ, in real, authentic communities where we can relentlessly pursue personal wholeness. And non-Christian students were invited to start living the flourishing life that comes through knowing Jesus as Lord and Savior! It was great for our students to have a weekend away from the hustle and bustle that is the status quo of college life!

 

Please pray that God will help every student from Fall Getaway to flourish; as they follow him back on campus, and as they invite their friends to join them in life changing, Christ centered community!

With the arrival of two new baby boys, Deacon & Sawyer, let us bless the Tuckers and Diane Caldwell & Kit with diapers! It is an Alert tradition to shower every new arrival with plenty of diapers, big and small.   If you feel led to bless these families, you can leave your gift by the mailboxes with their name, for them to pick up at their convenience.

What to share Christ on Halloween?

The church has provided pamphlets to hand out that provide a great way to share the gospel to your Trick or-treaters. Pick up as many copies as you’d like at the Welcome Center in the foyer, and more can be printed if we run out, so ask if you need more!

Yes, it is time to start thinking about the Christmas program.  April is excited to get started so please ask your children if they are wanting to take part, so April can have an idea of number of children that will be involved.

We have a library for adults and children FULL of nonfiction, fiction, study guides, devotionals, whatever your heart desires.  Please visit the library and check something out.  The adult library is located by the fellowship hall in the southwest corner of the church and the children’s library is located downstairs.  Please ask Pastor Stephanie or Randi if you have any questions regarding the library.

 

 

 

 

 

We have a calendar online.  It is located on our church website so if you ever need to see what is happening at church, check there.  Also, it is a great resource to use so we don’t overbook ourselves or our facilities.  If you are wanting to hold something at church, please visit with Randi so it can get on the calendar.

Hayrack Ride

Next Sunday, October 21 after Sunday School, is our annual hayrack ride. The CE Board has planned for us to roast hot dogs and s’mores as we fellowship together and enjoy the beautiful Fall weather. Please bring a finger food to share. CE board will provide hotdogs, buns, smores, drinks and tableware.
