Hayrack Ride

Save the date! Sunday, October 21 after Sunday School, is our annual hayrack ride. The CE Board has planned for us to roast hot dogs and s’mores as we fellowship together and enjoy the beautiful Fall weather.

Covenant World Relief

On behalf of the teenagers who attended CHIC, we thank you for your generous gift last Sunday in the amount of $1,497.00. This will be greatly appreciated in helping the refugees from Syria who are exiled in Lebanon.

Birth Announcements

Brooke Richter, daughter of Mark and Jeanne Richter, gave birth to a baby girl on September 25^th, weighing 8lbs 4oz, 21in long with a head full of hair. The father’s name is Tavaughn Humphreys and their baby’s name is Kalani Jade.

Diane Caldwell and Kit Tebbutt welcomed their second boy, Sawyer, into their family on October 2^nd weighing 7lbs 14 oz and 20.5 in long.

Life Chain Sunday

All are invited to participate in the annual Life Chain in Clay Center which will be held today beginning at 2:30 p.m. at the First Baptist Church and then forming the Life Chain from 3:00 till 4:00.

Shoe Box Ideas

We will be packing Christmas Shoe boxes on Sunday, October 28th.

North Central Kansas Christian Artist Series

Lynda Randle will be performing on October 20 at the Clay Center Community High School Auditorium with doors opening at 5:30 and performance at 6:30 p.m. All seats are reserved and priced at $25 each which includes all fees and taxes. DID YOU KNOW…

We have a library for adults and children FULL of nonfiction, fiction, study guides, devotionals, whatever your heart desires. Please visit the library and check something out. The adult library is located by the fellowship hall in the southwest corner of the church and the children’s library is located downstairs. Please ask Pastor Stephanie or Randi if you have any questions regarding the library.

We have a calendar online. It is located on our church website so if you ever need to see what is happening at church, check there. Also, it is a great resource to use so we don’t overbook ourselves or our facilities. If you are wanting to hold something at church, please visit with Randi so it can get on the calendar.

Life Chain Sunday

Youth Project

If the Holy Spirit leads you to give, we are receiving an offering today for Syrian refugees. Covenant World Relief is responding to the need of these refugees in Lebanon. Immediate response includes sanitation kits, medical supplies and care, and baby kits. Envelopes are available for this offering.

Diaper Shower

With the arrival of baby Deacon, let us bless the Tucker family with diapers! It is an Alert tradition to shower every new arrival with plenty of diapers, big and small. If you feel led to bless this family, you can leave your gift by the mailboxes with their name, for them to pick up at their convenience.

Auditions

Got the theater bug? Auditions for Eager Heart – a Christmas mystery play – are happening this Wednesday at 7pm at The Rex Theater in Clay Center. Contact Megan Blackburn for more information.

Changes to Youth Group

Zach would like to start having youth group every week as well as splitting the kids up according to their age. Middle school students will be from 4-5 with dinner for the middle and high school students from 5-6 followed by the high school meeting from 6-7. If you have any questions, please visit with Zach.

Youth Project

New Sunday School Class Starting

The famous and classic stories of the Sunday School of our childhood are often not revisited as adults. But why? Join us after worship for a new adult class that covers famous stories such as Noah and the Ark, Sampson and Delilah, David and Goliath and Daniel in the Lion’s Den. Let’s go “Beyond the Felt Board” and examine what these powerful stories can teach us today.

Are you missing?

In the former sanctuary, there is a table that contains various items which have been left at the church over the past 5 years. These items might have been left from a potluck, funeral dinner, food donation, etc. (They need to make their way back to their home.) After Monday, September 3^rd, these items will no longer be available. If you have any questions, please contact Karen Rundquist and have a great Fall!

Youth Pastor

Zachary Kurt has accepted our call to serve as our youth/worship pastor. He plans to begin serving with us in a couple of weeks, so pray Zachary makes this transition and moves to KS.

Men’s Encounter

Men’s Encounter is a time for us men to get away and encounter God, perhaps like never before; a time to consider, give thought to our lives, and discover solutions to the unique challenges facing men.

Who would you like to provide solutions for you? Who better than God?

It is important to take the time to step away and gain perspective. Whether you think you have it all figured out or not, you will benefit from attending and you will come home with no regrets. From the time you leave until the time you return, you will have nothing to worry about; all meals, transportation and lodging is included. September 7-9, 2018, with multiple launch points. Registration can be done at encounterthecross.com and our church will cover half the registration fee for anyone going. If you are interested but have questions, please visit with Andy Sedlacek, Josh Wendland or Sam Linhardt.

Covenant Women! Our next Coffee and Conversation, where we talk about things that matter, is coming up. The topic: Breaking the Cycle of Shame. The struggles we all have being honest with ourselves and with others can lead to shame. And it’s far more common than we realize. So let’s talk about it – where shame comes from, what it means, and how to break the cycle. This Saturday, September 8^th from 9am – 11am here at the church with a light breakfast and of course, coffee.
