Board of Deacons

Please note that the Board of Deacons will not meet this month because of 8th Grade Promotion and since Pastor Dwight will be gone on Tuesday.

Midwest Flood Response Fund

Today we will receive an offering to help with relief efforts for those affected by the spring floods in NE, IO and KS which will be added to a donation from our general fund and sent to our conference office in Omaha.

Diaper Shower

With the arrival of Levi Hofmann, let us bless the Hofmann family with diapers! It is an Alert tradition to shower every new arrival with plenty of diapers, big and small.   If you feel led to bless the Hofmann family, you can leave your gift by the mailboxes with their name, for them to pick up at their convenience.

Mental Health First Aid Training

Mental health first aid is an eight-hour certification course that trains participants to help people who may be experiencing a mental health problem or crisis.   Class is free and open to the public, Wednesday, May 15 at Leonardville Community Building from 8:30-5:00.

Alert Road Race

The 21st Annual Alert Road Race will be Saturday, June 15th.  The races consist of a 10K, 5K and a 1-mile fun run.  The entry fee is $15, and all entrants receive a t shirt.  (Money raised benefits the Alert Youth Fellowship.) Entry forms are available in the church office, or you can enter online at:  https://register.chronotrack.com/r/48663

Vacation Bible School

Bring your kids for the ultimate “concert” experience at this years, “Backstage with the Bible” Vacation Bible School, June 3rd– 7th from 9- 11:45a.m.  Please grab a registration form on the Welcome Center and get your kiddo signed up. (Must be 3 years old)

Can you sing? Can you play an instrument? Use your gifts in praising the Lord and join the worship team! We want more to be involved and would really love a drummer. Go find Pastor Zach and sign up today!

!Fiesta!

We are having the last regular youth group party today from 4-7p.m., all ages come at 4! We will play games, eat food, watch a movie and all sorts of different things! Come join us for the last youth group of the school year tonight and BRING A FRIEND!

Spring Dinner

The ladies of Alert Covenant are invited to the Spring Dinner at Westmoreland United Methodist Church, Monday, May 13th at 6:30 p.m.

The program will include a presentation about emergency preparedness by Steve Burnett and musical entertainment by Theresa Taylor. A free will offering will be taken for Nebraska flood victims. Please let Randi know if you plan to attend by May 8th.

Green Christian School is currently having their enrollment for preschool-8th grade.  There are informational handouts on the Welcome Center if you are interested.

Our kids are living in a time when their schedules rarely allow for them to slow down and dwell on the Word of God.  Camp will provide opportunities for them to not only grow spiritually but have intentional, authentic fellowship with other kids their age.  Open to all kids entering 3rd grade- 6th grade.  Dates of camp: July 8-12. Registration is due no later than June 1st.  Please see Pastor Dwight for more information.

We are gearing up for the 21st Annual Alert Road Race on June 15th!  If you have been a sponsor in the past, please check your church mailbox for more information.  If you think your business or employer or a business you patronize might be interested in being a sponsor, there is a letter titled “Sponsorship Opportunity” available on the welcome center that you can use.  ALSO, now is the time to share any ideas you have to make the race better!  Contact Teresa by e-mail at:  teemoandgeezr@gmail.com (yes, geezr, not geezer)  Would someone be willing to organize nursery service during the race for runners with small children?  Any way we can make the runners more comfortable, will help make them want to come back!

Birth Announcement

Darren and Bethany Hofmann and big brother Henry welcomed a new baby boy into their family, Levi Paul, on Wednesday, April 24th at 3:49 a.m. He arrived weighing 9 lbs 3 oz and 20.5 inches long. All are doing great!

Executive Board Meeting

The Executive Board will not meet in May because of the Baccalaureate Service at BVHS.

7 pm in the fellowship hall. The couple is registered at Target, Bed, Bath & Beyond, and Zola.

Bibles

Study Bibles are available for those who do not have a Bible of their own. You may pick one up at the Welcome Center. The Bibles are provided as a gift to you.

Executive Board Meeting

Thank You…….

We were able to donate 15 blessing bags to Life Choice Ministries this week which will be given to new moms while they were in the hospital.  Thank you so much for blessing new moms with your donations.

Thank you for participating in our annual prayer commitment last Sunday to pray for and share the gospel with unbelievers. As a congregation we are praying for 260 or more individuals to come to faith in Christ. May God hear our prayers and bring people to faith.

MomsCONNECT

Our LAST MomsCONNECT gathering for the spring semester is,

Tuesday, April 23rd at 9:00 a.m., CC Covenant Church.  A panel of ‘older and wiser’ moms will answer our questions about marriage, parenting, and self-care. Renee’ & Katie will have another amazing craft.  

Join us and invite another mom to come with you!

ACE Training

Learn about Adverse Childhood Experiences and what you can do to reduce their impact. This training is free and open to the public.

Covenant Cedars Bible Camp is offering a new retreat for Grandparents and their Grandchildren. The dates for this retreat called Generations are May 31-June 2. Brochures are available on the Welcome Kiosk with more details. (Grandchildren who can attend must be ages 6-14.)

Covenant Cedars Work Days

Give Your Time, Build His Kingdom

Covenant Cedars Bible Camp offers a weekend opportunity for our church to serve together as they prepare camp for the summer.  Covenant Cedars provides free lodging and meals to volunteer groups. “There will also be devotions and worship led by the staff of Covenant Cedars. Man does not live on bread alone, and spiritual development is a huge part of our volunteer weekends.  Join us for a weekend of spiritual renewal in building His kingdom.” A group of our men will be leaving Friday, April 19th and will return Saturday evening, April 20th. Please speak with Andy Sedlacek if you feel led to go help at Covenant Cedars. His number is 785-410-6976.

Mexico Mission Trip

We have received confirmation of the dates for our Mexico Mission Team trip to Nicolas Romero. The dates are July 27th through August 5th. If you would like to go, please let Pastor Dwight know right away.

We want all voices represented this summer as we gather to discover how God is taking the women of ECC deeper in Christ and further in mission, together. As women, we are daughters of the great I AM. This triennial conference is an invitation for every woman to grow in her understanding of both who God is and whom God created her to be.  We dream of inspiring every woman to confidently affirm and live out the reality: “I am the daughter of the great I AM” Join us July 18-21, 2019 in Minneapolis, MN for a triennial gathering for women by women sponsored by Make & Deepen Disciples. Information and registration forms are in the church office.

“Christ in the Passover”

What do the Jewish Passover and Jesus’ last supper have in common? Irina Volodarska, with Jews for Jesus, will answer that question as she presents “Christ in the Passover” on April 10th at 7:00 PM. You’ll gain wonderful insights on how the pieces of God’s plan of salvation fit together, and you’ll remember this visual display of the Passover pageantry for years to come. Join us for Christ in the Passover from Egypt to Calvary to what it means for us today.  There will be a love offering for Jews for Jesus during the service. 

Grandparents
